Player Ratings: Stoke 1-0 Millwall

Stoke beat Millwall 1-0 at The Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Here our Millwall writer Alex Grace rates the Millwall players.

 Jordan Archer: 6

The Lions stopper did not have much to do in the first half as there was no shots on target from Stoke. He had to come out and collect the ball a few times. Had no chance with the goal.

 Mahlon Romeo: 6

Did his duties well. Got forward in support of Jed Wallace really well and looked a threat when Millwall were in the attacking half on the pitch. Did not have too much to do defensively.

 Shaun Hutchinson: 6

Looked very solid at the back. Did not have much to do during the afternoon. Most things that came into the box he defended well and managed the rest of the defence well. Should have done better as he and Cooper were both out jumped by Berahino.

 Jake Cooper: 6

Like his central defensive partner did not have much to do during the game. Managed to deal with most things that came his way. Did not cause as many problems in opposition box and he usually does. Had one chance from a corner which he should have done better with.

 James Meredith: 6

Struggled early on to get to grips with the game. Most of the Stoke attacks were coming down his side but not many managed to get into the box. He was replaced by Aiden O’Brien in the second half as Millwall went in search for an equaliser.

 Jed Wallace: 7

Very good going forward, linked up well with Romeo and caused the Stoke defence a number of problems. He created the early chance that Butland made the outstanding save from.

 Ryan Tunnicliffe: 6

Was solid in the centre of midfield.

Ryan Leonard: 6

Solid in midfield and created chances. He was always in control and run the midfield very well.

Shane Ferguson: 7

Returned to the starting XI and played very well. He earned his place back in the side and did both his duties very well.  He showed a lot creativity going forward and put in a number of good crosses including the one from which Ashley Williams clears off the line.

 Lee Gregory : 8

Was outstanding from start to finish, once again he chased everything down and showed what he can do. Got into space and worked very well with Elliott getting onto all of his knockdowns. His movement also caused problems for the Stoke defence.

 Tom Elliott: 7

Back in the starting line up for the first time since Bolton at home and showed in a way what the Lions have missed in attack. Morison has not been as effective during the formers absence and Elliott was able to win a lot more in the air.

Subs:

Steve Morison: 6

Did well when he came on, proved to be a problem for the Stoke defence and looked to create as much as he could. First thing he did when came on was to win a header. He played in Mahlon Romeo who was able to crosses into the box as well. Good performance.

Aiden O’Brien: 6

Was left out of the starting lineup and came on to replace James Meredith. He showed a lot of energy and got in behind the Stoke defence on a number of occasions but did not manage to set anything up, the one time he had a chance he crossed the ball straight to Jack Butland.

Jem Karacan: N/A
