Championship side Bristol City are reportedly keeping an eye of Plymouth Argyle’s in form striker Freddie Ladapo, according to today’s Daily Mirror.
Today’s Daily Mirror (page 58) reported that Championship side Bristol City are keeping tabs on Plymouth Argyle’s top scorer Freddie Ladapo.
Derek Adams’ side currently sit in the relegation zone at 21st place, one point away from Scunthorpe United in 20th.
However, in a season of struggle for Plymouth Argyle, Freddie Ladapo has struck a rich vein of form and is being linked with a move to the Championship in the January transfer window. The former Crystal Palace striker has scored 12 goals in 25 games so far this season, including 11 in League One. Ladapo is Plymouth’s top scorer by some way, with the closest to him being Ruben Lameiras and Joel Grant who both have four.
Despite being only 25, Ladapo has played for a lot of clubs in his career. Since 2011, the striker has worn the colours of 15 different teams, playing for six teams on a permanent basis and nine teams on loan.
He started his career at Colchester United, where he went on loan spells to Thurrock, Chelmsford City, Bishop’s Stortford, Woking and Nuneaton Town. Ladapo left Colchester for Kidderminster Harriers after making just six appearances for The U’s
A brief spell with The Harriers ended in more loan spells as well, joining Hayes & Yeading United and Grays Athletic after failing to break into the Kidderminster side. Ladapo scored 17 goals in 26 appearances for Grays, catching the eye of Margate Town, where the striker’s career began to pick up some momentum.
In just over a year with Margate, Ladapo scored 23 goals in 49 games, catching the eye of Premier League side Crystal Palace. He went on a trial with Palace and earned a contract with the club after scoring a hat-trick against Watford’s Under-23s.
Since then, Ladapo has spent much of his career in the football league, joining Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town on loan before making a permanent move to Southend United. After his stint in Essex failed to work out, Ladapo joined Plymouth Argyle and has since been in impressive form.
