According to Italian site Tutto Mercato Web, Leeds United joined Premier League side Fulham to scout Foggia’s attacking prospect Francesco Paolo Clemente at the weekend.
Leeds United have been spotted in Italy scouting Foggia starlet Franceso Paolo Clemente, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
The striker has been catching the eye with impressive performances throughout the first half of this season for the Foggia youth side, catching the eye of English duo Leeds and Fulham.
United scouts were seen watching the starlet as Foggia’s youngsters took on a Roma youth side, winning 3-2. Of the three goals scored by Foggia, Clemente netted two of them, including a penalty.
After impressing in front of Leeds United and Fulham scouts, it will be expected that both sides will push on to make a move for the striker in the January transfer window.
Since the arrival of Victor Orta in 2017 when he was appointed as Director of Football at Elland Road, a series of youngsters have started to make their way into the first team. Most recently, winger Jack Clarke, Jamie Shackleton, Will Huffer and Aapo Halme have all made first team appearances under Marcelo Bielsa. The progress of some of United’s youth talent could draw the youngster to Elland Road ahead of Fulham.
However, the draw of working under Italian manager Claudio Ranieri in the Premier League could be a strong draw for youngster Clemente. Ranieri will be looking to make his mark on his Fulham side after replacing Slavisa Jokanovic in mid-November and could look to bring in the Italian youngster to bolster his attacking options.
