Samu Saiz has tweeted to the club and fans as he officially leaves the club for a return to Spain. The Spanish forward was pictured in his new Getafe kit yesterday and won’t be coming back to England until the summer, most probably to finish moving his belongings back to Spain where he will stay.
The tweet thanks the fans and both Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa personally who both understood why he needed to leave the club. As to those reasons we don’t know specifics but we do know they were personal and the club have allowed him to move on in a deal that only suits the buying club and the player himself, there is little benefit to Leeds United here, make no mistake about that. As well as having to loan the player until the summer, making no money in reality, the club have actually lost a key player, despite his lack of form.
Excited to be going home to Spain, but massive thank you to my teammates, staff and fans @LUFC who always treated me well. Special thank you to Victor and Marcelo for being understanding. I hope the club gets back to where it belongs this season #LUFC #MOT https://t.co/GSMI19IPkz

Saiz, on his day was one of the best players in the Football League. At the start of the season he was pulling the strings for Marcelo Bielsa, playing in behind Kemar Roofe and having Mateusz Klich working as hard as ever behind him to create pockets of space. Since then the cold weather has set in and games have become to get scrappy he has been struggling to find any sort of form. His final game was the start against Queens Park Rangers last week and passes were going out of play, his head was down and he didn’t look happy at all, just days later the news came out he wanted to leave.
I’ll do a longer piece on the impact Saiz had at Leeds United but my emotions are divided on this one. As much as I loved the player and what he could bring when he played well, I find it frustrating he’s left when we’re in such a good position, leaving the club on a loan-deal that only really suits himself and Getafe. That being said if someone is having issues that relate to their family that has to come before the football, so it’s a bit of a mixed reaction for many, not just myself.
