Sheffield Wednesday owner has crisis meeting with playing squad

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has held crisis talks with the playing squad over the club’s recent poor form according to a report from The Star.

Things have been miserable at Hillsborough over the last few weeks. Poor form has seen the club drop down the Sky Bet Championship table like a stone from the play-off places into the lower half of the table. Many at the club now fear a relegation battle is on the cards and many have called for manager Jos Luhukay to be sacked with some reports saying Steve Bruce is a potential replacement.

And the situation is now getting so bad that the owner is having meetings with the playing squad about how best to proceed. Chansiri was there to see how the squad was feeling about recent events and this report suggests that tensions did get high during the meeting.

Tensions could get higher in the next few weeks should results continue to be disappointing. The fans will get a chance to express their feelings at a fan’s forum on Thursday. The meeting had initially been axed when the venue, the University of Sheffield’s Octagon, cancelled citing security concerns. However, the date was moved forward a day and brought back to a room within Hillsborough. With fans very unhappy about the direction of the club and Chansiri being very defensive of his record in previous meetings, this could get very heated very quickly should the fans not like what they hear from the owner.
