Barnsley tie up Berry deal

Barnsley have signed Cambridge United midfielder Luke Berry for an undisclosed fee, according to the BBC.

The 22-year-old had expressed a desire to leave after hearing of Barnsley’s interest and Cambridge reluctantly accepted a transfer request from Berry. The England C international scored 14 goals in 47 games last season as he helped his hometown club return to the Football League after a nine year absence. He is the Tyke’s seventh signing of this transfer window as Barnsley look to make an immediate return to the Championship

Berry signs a three-year deal with the club and has expressed his excitement of making the step up to League One football. He told the club’s website: “I’m a box-to-box midfielder. I’ll get goals, I like to create things and I like to think I can bring quite a lot to the table“.
