Saiz departure and Baker form may finally open up starting place for Leeds gem

Jack Clarke is one of the most discussed footballers at Leeds United this season. The young winger was on the brink last season and this campaign he has broken into the plans under Marcelo Bielsa. He has moved in front of all but two wingers, Pablo Hernandez and Gjanni Alioski, but recent scenario’s could well lead to him finally getting that start.

Izzy Brown isn’t fully fit and is the natural number ten who will probably come into the side when he’s back. Although the club have said he just had a tight hamstring yesterday, hence the substitution he can’t be going back into the first-team if he’s collapsing due to that issue, he needs to be ready and can’t be risked. I think it may mean a slight setback in terms of when he will play for the first-team and even then he won’t come straight into the side, that only leaves a couple of options.

Hernandez has been playing wide under Bielsa, but can operate in the central role

Pablo Hernandez is the player who now has the responsibility to create most things in the side. Some fans and clearly Bielsa appreciate what Alioski brings, but in terms of creating chances he isn’t really doing that at the moment. Lewis Baker has surely had his chances in terms of starting games because he hasn’t lasted longer than a half in either of his recent games that he was given the nod. Jack Harrison has really struggled to make an impact despite having such a high-profile which leaves Jack Clarke, the latest prospect at Leeds United.

Clarke is turning heads and it’s not hard to see why. Fearless and direct, frighteningly fast and creates chances more times than not when he gets running at players. His impact off the bench has been great but with the options limited and Mateusz Klich being forced to play slightly more advanced than he is suited to it may mean Clarke gets his opportunity from the start very soon. He’s almost certain to start in the FA Cup and Queens Park Rangers but could well be a key player before then in three games that are in just six days.
