Derby County manager Frank Lampard has praised fierce rivals Nottingham Forest ahead of the East Midlands Derby on Monday night.

Derby County manager Frank Lampard has praised Nottingham Forest and manager Aitor Karanka ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with their fierce rivals.

Lampard spoke to the Derby Telegraph, praising Nottingham Forest and his opposite number Aitor Karanka, insisting that they spent well in January and pose a serious threat to his side.

The stakes are even higher than usual for this derby match between Nottingham Forest and Derby County. Both sides are in the fight for promotion to the Premier League, and a win would be a massive boost for both sides.

“They are organised, Karanka has a history of being a very good coach and manager, he organises his teams very well and he knows what it takes to get up in this Championship.

“They invested and went for it in the summer, make no mistake. They brought in some real quality players and we have to be very aware of that. They are a threat, not just on Monday night but in terms of the season.

“Against a team like Nottingham Forest, with the quality they have, and against a team in a Championship and against a team in a big derby, there will be moments when you suffer, moments when the opposition have opportunities.

“So we have to be on our game to attempt to keep a clean sheet for starters.

“Of course, another clean sheet will be great for us. Whether it comes or not is another thing. Our intention solely is to try and win the game.”.
