Izzy Brown is nearing a return to first-team action and it couldn’t come at a better time. In reality Leeds United may not have been so accommodating in sanctioning an exit for Samu Saiz to Getafe if Izzy Brown wasn’t at the club and almost ready to go.
In the space of 24 hours Leeds are on the brink of losing one of the most talented players at the club in over a decade. Although some will argue that he hasn’t been the same player after good starts to both seasons there is little doubt that in terms of talent he is head and shoulders above so many players at this level, but his consistency seems to be a huge issue and personal problems off the pitch, as well as being on the bench have meant a move is very much on the cards.
Izzy Brown is a huge signing for Leeds United, that was whilst Samu Saiz wasn’t going to be leaving. In terms of attacking midfielders in the Football League there aren’t many better than Izzy Brown. A player who helped rivals Huddersfield get to the Premier League and one who can certainly add another dimension to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad. He’s nothing like Saiz in the way he plays but both are very, very good in their own way and Brown may well add goals to the side, where Saiz adds the craft and guile when he’s on his game.
Brown still needs more time before returning to the team and we may see him on the bench over the Christmas period but most likely we will see his first start in the FA Cup tie at Queens Park Rangers in the new year. Before then it would be great for him to get minutes because it will take him time to get up to speed. Once Saiz leaves, like we expect in the summer then Brown may well be the player Leeds could spend the money on to come into the club. Just a thought.
