One bombshell received earlier tonight at Leeds United was that much-loved, and highly-rated, Spanish attacker Samu Saiz was unsettled and looking to head back to Spain during the transfer window.

On his day, Saiz can be a game changer – his craft and vision often marking him out to be a Jedi strolling amongst mere padawan. He sees and delivers passes that few other players can themselves see and deliver.

However, with Leeds flying high near the top of the Championship pile, keeping a possibly homesick Saiz could very well upset a finely-balanced apple cart. With Getafe reportedly showing interest in the mercurial Spaniard, it might be prudent of the Whites to cash in.

However, with many Leeds United fans still coming to terms with the sudden news that the popular Saiz might leave, there remains some hope.

So, with Popey indicating the possibility of potential hitches holding back Saiz, his English adventure might very well continue. The Spaniard would, of course, be available to help United’s push to win promotion to the Premier League.

Should that not be the case, should Saiz go, fans would expect that some business be done of their own in January. True, the Whites have brought in Chelsea youngster Izzy Brown, and big things are expected of him.

He’s recovered from the knee injury suffered when playing for Brighton in January, and knocking on the door at Elland Road. Marcelo Bielsa welcomes this, urging caution that the forward needs more strength and conditioning ahead of his full Leeds début.

Yet, will this be enough of a back-up considering the tortuous nature of the January to May run-in for the Sky Bet Championship season?
