Blackburn Rovers, PNE and Rangers to join race for Gills hotshot

Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End and Glasgow giants Rangers are thought to be ready to join the race to sign Gillingham striker Tom Eaves during next month’s transfer window according to Sky Sports sources.

The 26-year-old Liverpool-born striker is out of contract at Priestfield Stadium at the end of the season and The Gills could be tempted to cash in on the striker in January.

Ladbrokes Premiership club Hibernian have been linked with a move for the former Oldham Athletic apprentice and it has now been reported that Sky Bet Championship pair Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End are also keen on the forward, along with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

Eaves joined The Gills as a free agent in summer 2017 and the player went in to score 18 goals in 47 appearances in his first season in Kent. The striker has already bagged 13 league goals for the club this term despite their struggles in the bottom half of the Sky Bet League One table and a big move could be on the horizon for the player.

Rangers are thought to have sent scouts to watch Eaves in action for Gillingham and they could opt to make a move for him in January while Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End are believed to be monitoring the situation.

Gillingham would like Eaves to sign a contract extension, however, the player is likely to want to test himself at a higher level and his club may look to generate some funds from an early sale in the upcoming transfer window.
