Middlesbrough keen to bring back Adama Traore on loan in January

According to TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough are interested in bringing former-winger Adama Traore back to the Riverside on loan in January.

Middlesbrough sold Traore for £20 million to Wolves in the summer transfer window, but he hasn’t settled at Molineux quite yet, scoring just one goal and registering one assist so far this season.

Boro boss Tony Pulis has spoken out about wanting to recruit players with ‘pace and power’ and Traore is the epitome of this. Since the young Spaniard departed to join Wolves in the summer, Middlesbrough haven’t signed another wide player, and haven’t replaced the width that the 22-year old provided.

Since signing for the Championship champions of last season, Traore has started just three times in the Premier League, and has been used more as an impact substitute. This was used to full effect when coming on against West Ham, scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 win at the London Stadium – his only top flight goal of his career to date.

According to the report, Middlesbrough have made an approach and Pulis is very keen to bring Traore back to Teesside, where he enjoyed the most successful spell of his career, helping Boro to the Play Offs and achieving the club’s Player of the Season award.

It is unclear whether Wolves would be willing to let the winger leave, albeit on loan, due to the price they paid for the player only four months ago.

However, a short-term move away from Wolves could be beneficial for all parties involved. It would aid Traore’s development, thus helping Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the long run. The move would also provide Middlesbrough with some well-needed width and creativity that they may need to help them in their promotion push.
