Sheffield Wednesday eyeing up move for Steve Bruce

Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing a move for Steve Bruce, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The experienced boss has emerged as a potential replacement for the under-pressure Jos Luhukay. There has been conversations with Bruce.

The 57-year-old is available after he was sacked by Aston Villa in early October.

Steve Bruce has won promotion from the Championship on four different occasions, twice with both Birmingham City and Hull City.

He spent his playing career with the likes of Gillingham, Norwich City, Manchester United, Sheffield United and Birmingham.

Bruce started his managerial career with stints at Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, Crystal Palace  before moving to Birmingham in 2001. He spent six years in the dugout at St Andrews before moving back to Wigan in 2007.

A spell at Sunderland followed prior to his move to Hull City in 2012. Bruce dropped into the Championship to take charge of the Tigers but guided them to just their second-ever promotion to the Premier League in his first campaign at the club.

Bruce then got Hull to their first ever FA Cup final in 2014 and their highest ever top flight finish. They were relegated though in 2015 but Bruce got them an immediate promotion back to the Premier League after beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the Play-Off final.

Jos Luhukay’s time at Hillsborough could be set to come to a premature end after a poor start to the season. Would Steve Bruce be the man to take Sheffield Wednesday forward or has he had his time now?
