“We are looking strong” – Oldham Athletic fans react to 0-2 away win against Crewe Alexandra

Oldham Athletic put on a brilliant performance and brought home 3 points away at Crewe Alexandra, curtesy of stunning goals from Peter Clarke and Chris O’Grady.

Frankie Bunn’s starting eleven consisted of Iversen, Dummigan, Clarke ©, Edmundson, Hunt, Lang, Maouche, Missilou, Nepomuceno, Surridge, O’Grady.

It was an even start to the encounter, Crewe Alexandra’s Callum Ainley forced a fine save from the feet of Oldham Athletic goalkeeper Daniel Iversen.

Mohamed Maouche then tested Crewe Alexandra’s Ben Garratt with a freekick, but failed to cause too many problems for the goalkeeper.

And then, Latics took the lead and what a goal it was from club captain Peter Clarke. The experienced defender got the ball on the halfway line and he drove towards to Crewe Alexandra goal, before unleashing an venomous strike from over 30 yards out into the top corner (0-1).

Crewe Alexandra came close to equalising straight away, when Shaun Miller got in behind the Latics defence, but Daniel Iversen was there to deny the forward.

Just before half-time, Latics doubled their lead, when experienced forward Chris O’Grady received the ball on the edge of the box before curling a left-footed effort on the turn into the bottom corner (0-2).

Half-Time – Crewe Alexandra 0-2 Oldham Athletic 

Latics began the second-half in the same manner as they finished the first-half, Sam Surridge headed over from a corner and then he was denied by Ben Garratt with a strike from the right-hand side of the penalty area.

Crewe Alexandra were close to pulling a goal back, when substitute Owen Dale forced another impressive save from the Dane Daniel Iversen as the ball fall to him in the Latics box.

Latics defended well and kept Crewe Alexandra out as they extended their unbeaten run to seven games.
