Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest are likely to opt against recalling centre-back Joe Worrall from his loan spell at Glasgow giants Rangers according to reports from Nottinghamshire Live.

The 21-year-old Hucknall-born defender joined The Gers on a season-long loan deal in August and the player has impressed during his time at Ibrox.

Parent club Nottingham Forest are currently without defensive pair Danny Fox and Michael Dawson through injury. There have been rumours that The Reds could opt to recall youngster Worrall from his loan spell at Rangers to cover for those injuries, however, it has now been reported that Forest boss Aitor Karanka would like the player to continue to enjoy his regular game time in Glasgow.

Worrall has 18 months remaining on his current deal at The City Ground. The defender was sent out on loan this season as his manager could not guarantee him regular first team football, although it is thought that he is part of the long-term picture.

During his time at Rangers, Worrall has made 12 appearances for the club. The player has enjoyed his first taste of European football in the UEFA Europa League with The Gers while he played the full match as his side lost 1-0 to Aberdeen in a Betfred Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

Worrall has already made over 50 senior appearances for parent club Forest in his career to date.
