Chelsea join Manchester City in hunt for Leeds United’s young star

It was reported yesterday that Leeds United’s young prospect Jack Clarke was on the radar of none other that Premier League giants Manchester City, and that a “clutch” of Premier League sides were also looking at the winger.

Today, The Mirror have reported that Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea are one of the fellow Premier League side’s amongst the “clutch” believed to be chasing Leeds United’s young winger Jack Clarke.

Leeds United youngster Jack Clarke’s name first started coming onto the tongues of Leeds fans when he was named on the bench for their tie against Newport County earlier this year when Paul Heckingbottom.

After featuring throughout pre-season for The Whites, Clarke has started to appear as a substitute for the first team this season. The 18-year-old has pulled on the Leeds United strip on five occasions this season, making his way on as a substitute to make five appearances so far.

In the previous two games against Reading and Sheffield United, Clarke has come on at half-time for Ezgjan Alioski. In the wake of Alioski’s poor form, United fans have been calling for Clarke to come into the starting eleven. However, Bielsa has kept his faith in the Macedonian winger up until now.

Manchester City did try to bring in the Leeds United youngster about 13 months ago before Clarke committed to signing a professional contract with The Whites. However, the young Yorkshire born winger stayed loyal to the side that have helped him progress through the youth ranks from a young age.
