Reading have sacked Paul Clement, as confirmed by their official club website.
The Royals have started the season poorly and have parted company with the 46 year-old with the club lying in 21st place in the Championship after four wins from 21 games so far in this campaign.
Reading will now be in the hunt for a new manager to try and help them retain their second tier status. They are above the relegation zone by goal difference. Clement’s replacement will have the upcoming January transfer market to bolster the squad.
Clement took over at the Madejski Stadium in March after they sacked Jaap Stam and kept them up last season. However, his side have not been able to get going in this campaign and he has fallen victim for that.
Prior to his move to Reading earlier this year, Clement had held managerial positions at Derby County and Swansea City. He had also been assistant manager at the likes of Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
He will now be looking for a route back into the game and it will be interesting to see what he does next.
Here is how the Reading fans have reacted on Twitter to his sacking this morning-
Timing seems a bit odd – seemed more likely 2 months ago, but change is needed. Who's favourite to come in? Needs to be someone who will/can stay around and build something. Hughes? Jokanovic? Quick appointment surely ready to go.

I think with how suddenly that sacking has been made, a replacement may well have already been found. #ReadingFC
