Defoe and Hogan? Five strikers Sheffield United should sign in January

Sheffield United will be in the hunt for a striker in January to help boost their promotion push. Here are five they should go for-

Jermain Defoe, AFC Bournemouth- The 36-year-old has been linked with the Blades over recent weeks and would be ideal. The former West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Toronto and Sunderland striker has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in the country over the past decade or so.

Shane Long, Southampton- He is another Premier League striker who has been mentioned for Sheffield United. The Republic of Ireland international has fallen down the pecking order in the top flight with the Saints but would be a real handful in the Championship.

Scott Hogan, Aston Villa- The former Brentford forward was linked with Chris Wilder’s side in the summer and they should move back in for him. He has had an injury-hit time at Villa Park and could do with a move away for the sake of his career. Hogan would score goals with the right service at Bramall Lane.

Josh Maja, Sunderland- The 21-year-old has become a man in-demand having scored 11 goals so far this season in League One for the Black Cats. He looks to have a bright future ahead of him in the game and would be a perfect long-term option for a Championship side like Sheffield United.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chelsea- He is likely to leave the Blues on loan in January for more first-team experience. The 18-year-old would offer the Blades something different going forward and give Wilder more options.
