Dons boss Tisdale pleased with victory over well-drilled Shrimps

MK Dons manager Paul Tisdale has admitted that he was pleased with his side’s 2-0 victory over a well-organised Morecambe side at Stadium MK this evening.

Midfielder Alex Gilbey netted two stunning second half goals for The Dons as they saw off the efforts of a plucky Morecambe outfit.

Speaking to The72 after the match, Dons boss Tisdale admitted that he was pleased to see his side battle to victory, a result which has taken the club to the Sky Bet League Two summit.

“I’ve come up against Jim’s Morecambe team for a few years now” said Tisdale. “They are very well-drilled at holding that positional play and counter attacking.

“We knew there was a danger there and we had to be on our guard.

“It was about keeping the game moving and I thought that eventually, a chance would come.”

Match-winner Gilbey netted his first goals of the season against Morecambe and his manager was full of praise for his performance.

“We’ve been ribbing him a little bit about not finding this back of the net this season so it was a timely brace” Tisdale added.

“He is delighted. It’s what we have been speaking about and if he adds those goals to his game he is really going to be a big asset for us.”

MK Dons go into a 10-day break as table-toppers but manager Tisdale is only looking at the next game.

“I will be delighted if we can still keep having the same conversation” said Tisdale when asked about whether his side can remain at the top of the table.

“Keep asking me the same question every week but I’ll keep saying ‘there’s a long way to go’.”

MK Dons are two points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two but second placed Lincoln City have one game in hand.
