Millwall manager Neil Harris has praised his goalkeeper Jordan Archer. The goalkeeper returned to the starting XI for the first time since August against Bolton on Saturday.
The goalkeeper, produced a stunning double save early on as he replaced Ben Amos who had started the previous 13 Championship games. Amos was unable to face his parent club. Archer had not played since the 1-0 defeat at Rotherham at the end of August.
The Scotland international made a super double save early on first keeping out Will Buckley, before getting up off the ground to deny Ryan Lowe from point blank range. There was nothing he could do about the Bolton goal their first since October the 20th and just their 12th of the season. The goalkeeper was not overly busy, but was called into action again to keep out Lowe in the second half.
Harris had words of praise for his goalkeeper when speaking to The72 after the game. He said “I thought Jordan was excellent today. He had a tough period not being in the team. He has not been used to that under me. He has trained excellently for a period of time now.
“He has been waiting patiently, came back in by today by default with Ben Amos being unavailable and I thought Jordan was excellent.
Harris then went on to praise the double save. “The double save in the first half is as good as you are going to see. At a crucial moment and then the second half, the one time that Bolton got into our box other than the 96th minute, he makes a good save low down as well.
Who starts against Birmingham?
Harris was then asked as to weather Archer had done enough to keep his place in the side for Wednesday’s game against Birmingham. On that he said “As I always do, I will take stock of the game today, watch the game back, sit down with coaches and decide the root we want to go with selection for Wednesday and decide from there.”
