QPR’s Luke Freeman full of praise for Steve McClaren after signing new deal

Luke Freeman has signed a new contract at QPR until the summer of 2021, as confirmed by their official club website.

The 26-year-old has been the subject of interest from fellow Championship side Middlesbrough but has now committed his future to the Hoops.

Freeman has started this season well for QPR and has been a key player for Steve McClaren’s side. He has played 18 games so far in all competitions, chipping in with four goals.

The London side made a slow start to the season but have turned it around. They are now just four points off the Play-Offs. Next up for them is a trip to Rotherham United tomorrow night followed by a home fixture against Hull City on Saturday.

After signing a new deal, Freeman has said, “I’m really pleased. I’m happy here. I get on well with all the boys, all the staff. I love the club, the fans and I want to help us progress even more now”.

“It was a tough start to the season, but kicking on like we have done made this decision even easier for me”.

Freeman was also full of praise for QPR’s manager McClaren, “He was massive in this decision and is probably one of the best managers I have played under. The same goes for his staff”.

McClaren, who took over the Hoops over the summer, has said, “I am delighted. To tie Luke down to a longer contract is fantastic news for the club”.
