Leeds United fans comment at rarity of a Saturday 3pm game

The EFL deal with Sky Sports, one of nigh on £600million in value, is an episode that will no doubt rumble on. The bulk of Championship clubs are up in arms against it, Leeds United are one of those challenging it.

For Leeds United, and their fans, this battle with media giants Sky is almost personal. Many times the Whites have seen their fixtures shifted and hoicked around with dates and times being changed seemingly at will and on a whim by Sky Sports who, of course, have more than a degree of control in this.

The rancor at Sky Sport runs deep at Elland Road; not only is it deep though. it is also historical. Former owner Massimo Cellino once ‘banned’ Sky Sports from setting up their cameras at Elland Road, another of his famous piques. Current owner Andrea Radrizzani is also not happy with them, his gripe being the fairness of the deal and the money that it leaves available to EFL clubs.

The biggest moan though, from Leeds United fans, is the way that Sky treat the fixture list as malleable and available to be twisted and manipulated at will. Days and times, both are meddled with and this leaves the best laid plans of supporters and fans open to changes that often incur them added costs. But chief amongst the moans is the lack of a traditional kick-off on a Saturday at 3pm.

Step forward the Leeds United official Twitter account, which has definitely stepped up its profile and acerbic cutting edge of late:

A common meme it may be across social media, used often by many to express sheer joy. Here it the guiding principle of its use is sarcasm. And it is beautiful. It was bound to garner a response from Leeds United fans, and they didn’t disappoint. Here’s what some of them replied with in the comments.
