Hibernian boss Lennon linked with move for Gillingham hotshot

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon is understood to be considering a January move for Gillingham striker Tom Eaves according to reports by The Scottish Sun.

The 26-year-old Liverpool-born frontman has bagged 12 goals in 22 matches for The Gills this season despite the club’s struggles in the lower reaches on the Sky Bet League One table.

Eaves is out of contract at Priestfield Stadium at the end of the season and it has now been reported that Ladbrokes Premiership club Hibs could try to tempt Gillingham into a sale with a January transfer window offer for the player.

Hibernian started the season with the aim of closing the gap between themselves and champions Celtic but  a run of four games without a win has left Lennon’s side in eighth position in the league table. The Hibees have failed to score in any of their last three league outings, a run dating back over a month, and with Gillingham striker Eaves proving to be a real handful in the opposition box, he could be a good option in January.

Eaves started his career with Oldham Athletic before joining Bolton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee in 2010. The player was sent out on numerous loan spells by The Trotters before joining Yeovil Town on a permanent basis in summer 2016.

The striker lasted just a year at Huish Park before being released but was soon picked up by Gillingham who are certainly reaping the rewards for offering Eaves a deal in Kent.
