West Brom want to strike deal for Premier League striker

West Brom want to sign Dwight Gayle on a permanent deal from Newcastle United, according to Birmingham Live.

The striker is currently on loan to the Baggies and his long-term future at the Hawthorns will depend on whether they are promoted to the Premier League this season.

Gayle has recently said, “Yeah of course it’s crossed my mind. It’s something that will be on the cards, but I suppose I have to get this season out of the way and let others get on with what they’ve got to do”.

The 29-year-old has impressed at Darren Moore’s side so far this season and has chipped in with 8 goals. West Brom striker Salamon Rondon went to Newcastle on loan as part of the deal to sign him in August.

Gayle made his name at Dagenham and Redbridge before signing for Peterborough United in the Championship in 2012. After scoring 13 goals in 29 games for the Posh, he was snapped up by Premier League side Crystal Palace in July 2013 for around £4.5 million

He scored 25 goals in 74 games for the Eagles but left them in July 2016 to join Newcastle United in the Championship. He bagged 23 goals to fire the Toon back into the Premier League under Rafa Benitez, but only managed 6 goals in the campaign in the top flight.

Gayle always seems to find his feet in the Championship and has turned out to be an inspired signing by West Brom. Can he fire the goals to get them back into the Premier League and sign for them on a permanent deal?
