Leeds United fans react after club confirm Manchester United game

As rivalries go, you can rank Leeds United and Manchester United up their in the upper tier of ’embittered’ contests.

It is a rivalry that is a canker on behalf of both sets of fans, digs and jibes being exchanged across social media now that the two sides play a division apart.

It is not only a Leeds-Manchester thing that drives the animosity, but a cross-Pennines, War of the Roses connotation that sees Leeds United fans shunning the very wearing of red like it is some kind of plague-ridden hue.

For these Whites fans, one goal and game still leaves a rosy glow to their cheeks. It is this one:

Now this rivalry is about to spark into life again as confirmation comes that the Whites will be facing the Reds…in Australia.

The friendly next July will see Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United side travel out to Australia to take part in two friendlies, the highlight being this one (above) against Manchester United.
