Leeds United are interested in Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, as reported by The72 earlier today.
The Whites are in desparate need of a new goalkeeper after Jamal Blackman suffered a broken tibia last week playing for their Under-23’s. This has left Bailey Peacock-Farrell as their only fit senior ‘keeper.
The England international has fallen down the pecking order at Burnley behind Joe Hart and is seeking a move in January. He has also been linked with Championship side Bristol City recently.
Heaton started his career at local side Chester before he was signed by Manchester United in 2002. He rose through the youth ranks at Old Trafford but never made a first-team appearance for the top flight giants. Instead, Heaton enjoyed various loan spells away at the likes of Swindon Town, Royal Antwerp, Cardiff City, QPR, Rochdale and Wycombe Wanderers.
He then left the Red Devils on a permanent deal to sign for Cardiff on a free transfer. Heaton spent two years with the Welsh side and played 40 games before rejecting a new contract offer to join Bristol City.
The 32-year-old spent a season with the Robins in 2012/13 ahead of being snapped up by Burnley at the end of that campaign and has been there ever since, playing 181 times and helping them gain promotion to the Premier League twice.
Here is how the Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to the news they are keen on Heaton-
Heaton would be a positive statement and a half, however unlikley IMHO. #lufc

Tom Heaton would be a cracking signing. Straight into the starting XI if we managed to pull it off #LUFC

Seen us linked with Tom Heaton this morning in light of Blackman’s injury and return to Chelsea. I’d love Heaton, even if just on loan. Would defo want to be starting games though #lufc

If Leeds are actually trying to get Heaton he'll be a great signing him and and a decent left winger Leeds will be up around top 2 at the end of the season.
