As James Husband prepares to finalise his move to Middlesbrough today from Doncaster, a deal looks also to be happening in the other direction that involves Boro striker Curtis Main.

According to the GazetteLive, “Rovers are keen to sign the striker”, who would be a welcome addition to Donny, who have already lost strikers Chris Brown to Blackburn Rovers, and Billy Paynter to Carlisle. The loss of Brown is more significant than Paynter as Brown was Doncaster’s top scorer last season with 9, in what was a season that ended in relegation back to League 1. Paynter on the other hand made 9 appearances for Doncaster last season, not scoring once, and was then taken on loan by Sheffield United where he did not score again in 13 games.

Main would give Doncaster some extra fire power alongside Theo Robinson and recently signed Nathan Tyson. Main made 23 appearances for Middlesbrough last season, however 16 were off the bench. He scored once in a 2-2 draw with Bolton.

Main has been described as a physically strong player who is able to bully people off the ball. For Doncaster he seems the perfect foil for both Tyson and Robinson, who are both quick players, as Main will be able to hold up the ball for them and then set them away.
