EFL duo Tranmere and Shrewsbury selected for live TV coverage

BT Sport have announced the two FA Cup first-round replays that have been selected for live TV coverage next week.

The two EFL sides in question are Tranmere Rovers and Shrewsbury Town. Tranmere face Vanarama National League South outfit Oxford City, while Shrewbury face National League high-flyers Salford City.

Kabongo Tshimanga’s hat-trick wasn’t enough for City as James Norwood’s 89th minute equaliser bagged the League Two play-off hopefuls a replay, the two other strikes came from in-form Connor Jennings

At Shrewbury Town, Adam Rooney cancelled out Ollie Norburn’s opener to ensure a replay at Moss Lane. Salford are unbeaten in 19 games, including the impressive draw at the home of the League One club.

The second-round draw was also made tonight, the winners of the latter tie will be rewarded with a game against Scunthorpe United for the right to reach the famed third-round.

If Tranmere make it through past their plucky opponents, there’ll be another non-league side in the way. With Southport looking to reach the glamour and glitz of round three.

Shrewsbury Town are languishing above the third tier drop-zone, with Crewe Alexandra and Rochdale in the Checkatrade Trophy and the league respectively. They have also sacked their manager of five months John Askey.

Tranmere are one point outside of the automatic promotion places having achieved the same feat from the fifth tier in May. Shrewsbury, like Tranmere, face Crewe when they make the trip to Gresty Road.

The ties will be played on Tuesday 20 November and Wednesday 21 November.
