Chris Basham has signed a new contract with Sheffield United, as confirmed by their official club website.
The 30-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Championship high-flyers and has committed his future until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Basham joined the Blades in in June 2014 and has since played over 200 games for them. He was a key player in their 2017 League One title winning season under Chris Wilder.
After signing his new deal, Basham said, “I’m really pleased it’s sorted, the manager knows I’m a thinker and now I can focus on arguably the biggest game of the season so far”.
“There’s nowhere else I’d want to go and play, this club is definitely on the up and I really want to be a part of it for the next two-and-a-half years”.
The experienced defender started his career at Bolton Wanderers and went onto play a handful of games for the Trotters in the Premier League before joining Blackpool in 2010. Basham played 93 games for the Seasiders in his four years there.
He has become a fans favourite at Bramall Lane and is a crucial player for the way Wilder likes his side to play. Here is how the Blades fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Basham has signed a new deal at the club-

As stated over the years, Basham is limited ability wise, but is crucial to how our team performs. Always puts 100% in. ⚔️🔴⚪️ #twitterblades https://t.co/Nef9pRsy21
