Middlesbrough to battle Premier League side and European giants for Swedish teen prodigy

Middlesbrough are being linked with highly rated Swedish youngster Jack Lahne, and are set to go up against German giants Wolfsburg and Premier League side Wolves, according to the Hartlepool Mail.

Swedish winger Jack Lahne’s impressive performances for Swedish Allsvenskan side IF Brommapojkarna have been catching the eye of some of Europe’s top sides. 2008/09 Bundesliga winners Wolfsburg and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all believed to have scouted the youngster, along with Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough.

In the Allsvenskan last season, then 16-year-old Lahne scored three goals in 17 appearances for the Swedish outfit. The Zambian born youngster made his professional debut for IF Brommapojkarna at just 15 years, 7 months and 24 days old in his side’s 3-2 victory over GAIS – playing in the Superettan, Sweden’s second tier.

He scored his first goal for the club in his second appearance, still aged only 15 years old.

The side are struggling in their second consecutive season in the top tier of Swedish football, as IF Brommapojkarna sit in 15th place out of 16 after 28 games played. However, young winger Lahne has been catching the eye of scouts around the world, and has been linked with a move to England.

Lahne spoke to Swedish paper Sportsbladet about rumours linking him with a move away from Sweden amid interest in his services.

“No … I do not think so much about that [moving abroad]. I’m thinking more about what to do here right now. Be better match for match. So it is very important to focus on the next match, instead of everything that’s happening around one.

“Long-term, the goal is to go abroad, but in the short term, keeping BP [IF Brommapojkarna] in the Allsvenskan.”
