Burnley are admirers of Brentford forward Ollie Watkins, according to Sky Sports.

However, the Championship side are surprisingly wanting a fee in excess of £20 million for his signature.

Premier League side Burnley are looking at delving into the Championship for potential signings for the January transfer window as Sean Dyche looks to bolster his squad. They are set to rekindle their interest in West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez, as reported by The72 earlier today.

Ollie Watkins is an option for the Clarets if they are prepared to fork out a big fee to lure him to Turf Moor.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of interest from the Premier League since his move to Brentford. He made the switch to Griffin Park in July 2017 for just £1.8 million from League Two side Exeter City and scored 11 goals in all competitions last season.

Watkins has so far managed four goals so far in this campaign and is very highly-rated by the new Bees’ boss Thomas Frank, who will be looking to keep hold of him in January.

Watkins started his career at Exeter and rose through the youth ranks at St James’ Park. He had a loan spell at non-league outfit Weston-Super-Mare in the 2014/15 season before breaking into the first-team. He played a total of 78 games for the League Two side and bagged 26 goals.

There is no doubt that Ollie Watkins will play in the Premier League one day but it is unlikely that he will move to Burnley in January based on his high valuation by Brentford.
