The72 Championship Team of the Week Matchday 16: Chester’s classy display for Aston Villa

Leeds United returned to the top of the Sky Bet Championship with a 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

Norwich City are up to second following their 4-0 hammering of Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

West Bromwich Albion are now out of the top six following a 1-0 defeat to Hull City at the KCOM Stadium, leaving the Tigers now level on points with safety.

Preston North End’s advantage over the relegation zone has now been cut to just goal difference, after being held to a 1-1 draw bottom of the table side Ipswich Town.

Here is our Team of the Week from all of the matches from this weekend, based on match ratings from WhoScored.com.

Goalkeeper: Tim Krul (Norwich City) 7.98

The Canaries’ stopper made four saves to deny the Owls, as Krul was only one of eight Championship keepers who kept a clean sheet over the weekend.

Defence: Reece Burke (Hull City) 8.04

Right-back Reece Burke was Hull’s best player in their shock win over West Brom, making 10 tackles against the Baggies.

Defence: James Chester (Aston Villa) 9.90

This week’s Player of the Week is Aston Villa captain James Chester, who scored and made a decisive clearance as Villa were 2-0 winners over Bolton Wanderers on Friday night.

Defence: Maximillian Aarons (Norwich City) 8.08

The teenage right-back created Teemu Pukki’s second goal of the match, made three tackles and completed 85% of his attempted 42 passes.

Midfield: Emiliano Buendia (Norwich City) 8.41

Argentinian midfielder Emiliano Buendia netted the second of Daniel Farke’s side’s four goals and is one of four of their players to feature in this week’s best eleven. He was named as WhoScored’s star man in South Yorkshire.

Midfield: Harry Wilson (Derby County) 8.25

Harry Wilson netted the second of Derby County’s three goals to end Birmingham City’s 11-match unbeaten streak. The 21-year-old also hit the woodwork against the Blues.

Midfield: Liam Kelly (Reading) 8.20

Liam Kelly was Reading’s star man in their 3-2 win over Bristol City at the Madejski Stadium, scoring the second of their goals very early into the second half.

Midfield: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) 9.80

In most other weeks, Grealish’s score of 9.8 out of ten would have almost certainly won him the Player of the Week accolade, only to be outdone be club colleague Chester. He scored the opener and he also created Chester’s goal during the win over Bolton.

Forward: Mason Bennett (Derby County) 8.17

Early substitute Mason Bennett got Derby’s equaliser against Garry Monk’s side shortly after half-time and was the hosts’ second-highest rated player.

Forward: Lukas Jutkiewicz (Birmingham City) 8.5

Despite being on the receiving end of a 3-1 loss at Pride Park, Lukas Jutkiewicz was the star man, notching for the eighth time in his past six matches.

Forward: Teemu Pukki (Norwich City) 8.26

The Finnish striker was one of only two Championship players to net a brace this weekend and took his tally for the season to seven in the league against the Owls.
