Leeds United could go top today with three points at Wigan’s DW Stadium, in doing so they’d end Wigan’s long unbeaten home run.
It wasn’t the best start for the Whites, Liam Cooper giving away a free-kick after an industrial challenge on Wigan striker Joe Garner.

Chelsea teenager James stepped up, curling the ball over the top of the Leeds United defensive wall and beyond the despairing dive of Bailey Peacock-Farrell. It was a well-taken goal from the on-loan Chelsea youngster, although there were question marks over Peacock-Farrell’s positioning and footwork.
However, one thing that Leeds United do have is a goal threat. They’d already come close through Gjanni Alioski had the visiting Whites and that served as a precursor for them pulling back an equaliser and putting right the earlier error.
LEEDS LEVEL INSTANTLY
Wigan don’t deal with a simple through-ball and Leeds hit back through Hernandez.

It was a weak Wigan clearance that gifted the ball to Kalvin Phillips who spread the ball out to Barry Douglas. His neat ball in behind the Wigan defence was met by a measured run from Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich.
Klich headed for the byeline, driving a low cross into the centre of the area where an unmarked Pablo Hernandez side-footed in from the edge of the six-yard box. It was Hernandez’s fourth goal of the season, to go alongside four assists in only nine Championship games.
Here’s how Leeds United fans reacted to Hernandez’s equaliser over on Twitter:
Nice move gem of a finish
