It’s 16th versus 5th today at the DW Stadium as hosts Wigan take on visitors Leeds United in the 1:30 kick-off this afternoon.
Wigan come in to the game on the back of two consecutive losses (2-1 Millwall, 4-2 Sheffield United) in a run of games where a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at home is the only win out of their last six games. It has been six games where they’ve only managed four points from a possible 18.
Visitors Leeds United, despite a dip in form, approach today’s fixture with just one loss (2-1 vs Blackburn Rovers) in their last six games – six games where they’ve harvested 10 points from a possible 18.
A win for Wigan will lift them to 11th place in the table whilst if Leeds come away with three points from the DW, they will replace a rampant Norwich side at the top of the league. It won’t be an easy ask – no side has won at Wigan this season.

The Whites make one change from the side that battled to a somewhat controversial draw last time out against Nottingham Forest. The fit again Barry Douglas comes in at his usual left-back spot. Aside from the enforced absence of Luke Ayling through injury, it’s an unchanged Leeds United side with Stuart Dallas sliding over to take up the former Bristol City man’s right-back spot. Jack Harrison returns to the competitive fray, the Manchester City loanee having to settle for a bench spot alongside Samu Saiz.
As is to be expected, there’s a lot for Leeds United fans to say about the selection over on social media. Here’s how some of them are reacting to the team news:
Come on Leeds! we’re gonna give a team a right spanking and hopefully today is that day

Not one defender on the bench. We need to bring a lad up from 23s
