Sunderland linked with move for Exeter City goal ace

Sky Bet League One promotion hopefuls Sunderland could make a move for Exeter City striker Jayden Stockley in the January transfer window according to reports by the Exeter Express and Echo.

The 25-year-old Poole-born hotshot was reportedly on The Black Cats’ radar in the summer, although it is unknown whether any official approach for the player was ever made by the Wearside club.

Sunderland are expected to invest in their squad during the upcoming January transfer window and it has been reported that The Black Cats’ boss Jack Ross could submit a transfer offer for Exeter City ace Stockley.

The forward is on fire in Sky Bet League Two this season, scoring nine goals in just 16 games for The Grecians. Stockley also netted an impressive 25 goals in 48 outings for the Devon club last term.

Exeter City are challenging for promotion themselves this season and will not want to lose the services of their star man. The Grecians would command a sizeable six-figure sum for Stockley, a fee which Sunderland’s ambitious board would be able to offer.

Sunderland’s positive goal difference of 17 is currently the best in their division. Goals will be hugely important in the race for promotion with the clubs around them also boasting plenty of firepower.
