“Turnip” – Leeds United fans comment after conceding vs Forest

As Saturday turned over, Leeds United sat at the top of the Championship pile ahead of the early evening game against Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.

Results this afternoon didn’t go the Whites way, the West Yorkshire side dropping down to 5th place, replaced by fellow Yorkshire side Sheffield United at the head of the league table.

Fans were hoping that the game, against a dangerous Forest side laden with attacking threat, would be a fitting tribute to long-time Leeds United fan Edna Newton – a 64-year successive season ticket holder who sadly passed away this week.

Leeds welcomed back Pontus Jansson into the starting line-up after the Swede had served his FA-imposed one-match ban for abusing referee Jeremy Simpson’s performance during the Brentford game.

Adam Forshaw also came in to replace the dangerous, yet jaded, Samu Saiz with Leeds’ final change forced on them by Jack Harrison’s injury – Stuart Dallas starting the game at left-back.

That replacement was not received well over on Twitter when Leeds United first released their team news. It could easily be said that fans are not convinced by the Irishman’s defensive qualities; the manner of their comments testament to this.

Those comments were ramped up somewhat after Leeds fell behind to an 11th-minute Jack Robnson header from yet ANOTHER corner. It was a simple ball in from Joe Lolley, Robinson meeting it with a glanced downward header to put the ball beyond the despairing dive of Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The biteback that Dallas’ inclusion got at the release of team news was nothing in comparison to the comments appearing on Twitter after Leeds had conceded. Here’s what some Leeds United fans had to say:
