Queens Park Rangers fans are dreaming of a return to the English Premier League after a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Loftus Road left them just three points off the summit in the Sky Bet Championship, at least for a few hours.
Pawel Wszolek rattled in the only goal of the match via the crossbar in the first half as Rangers continued their rise up the table.
While opponents Aston Villa had all of the quality on paper, Dean Smith’s side failed to deliver and it turned out to be a relatively easy three points for the home side.
As the QPR fans left Loftus Road, there were ironic chants of ‘we are going up’ and their positivity continued on Twitter with many praising the job which new manager Steve McClaren is doing in West London.
Solid and resilient in a way we haven't seen for a long time. Great credit to all involved. Some week that has been. #QPR

Top quality tonight with our defence rightly taking the plaudits. Loved Rangel's fist pump as he cleared another Villa chance away. #QPR

Just how far this team has come from the Swansea performance is unbelievable! Lads walking around with hands in their pockets during that one! So proud of each and every @QPR player. Fantastic fight, passion and commitment on show. Tip of the hat to Steve and his team #QPRAVL

Outstanding. Just amazing really. Never thought we'd be just outside the playoffs after the start we had. Look like a proper team now. Defence were immense tonight under ridiculous pressure #QPR
