Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Porto defender Saidy Janko, according to The Sun.
The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Championship side Nottingham Forest and has impressed for them. He is also on the radar of Premier League duo Wolves and Fulham.
Janko has emerged as a target for the new Aston Villa boss, Dean Smith. The former Walsall and Brentford boss will be looking to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad with some new signings in January.
Janko started his career in his native Switzerland with FC Zurich but moved to England in 2013 when he was snapped up by Manchester United by David Moyes.
He made his first and only senior appearance for the Premier League giants in a League Cup tie away to MK Dons in August 2014 in which they lost 4-0.
Janko enjoyed a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship and was signed by Celtic in the summer of 2015. The right-back played 20 games altogether for the Glasgow side and was part of their side who won the Scottish Premier League title in 2016.
He was never a first-team regular for Celtic though and was loaned out to Barnsley in the 2016/17 season before he left Celtic Park on a permanent basis to join Saint-Étienne in July 2017. He played 21 times in Ligue 1 in the last campaign.
Janko was on the move again this summer and made the switch to Porto in June but they loaned him out two months later to Nottingham Forest.
