Match Preview: Peterborough United look to end poor home form against Fleetwood Town

Peterborough United host Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town at London Road this evening, and Steve Evans is determined to finally bring an end to Posh’s awful home form.

Peterborough United are eight games without a win in front of their home crowd in all competitions, failing to win a game at London Road since beating Nathan Jones’ Luton Town side 3-1 in mid-August.

Joey Barton will be looking to capitalize on The Posh’s poor home form, as they look to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to League leaders Portsmouth.

Team News

Peterborough United have no fresh injury concerns heading into their clash with The Cods, with several fitness worries now back to full fitness. Marcus Maddison, Tyler Denton and Conor O’Malley are all fit, but defender Josh Yorwerth remains unavailable due to “family issues“.

Joey Barton is set to have a fully fit Ched Evans available once again, after returning to the bench for the game against Portsmouth at the weekend. Defender Nathan Sheron will not be available, after he was sent off on Saturday.

Manager’s Quotes

Posh manager Steve Evans spoke to the Peterborough Telegraph ahead of tonight’s game:

“We all know we have to be much better at home and are working hard to put it right. We’re showing top six form away but bottom six form at home. That has to stop if we want to be in the mix at the end of the season. Not only that but we owe it to our bread-and-butter fans to improve.”

Joey Barton – in his first season of professional management – said:

“We will have to adjust on Tuesday, but we have bodies in the squad and players who are more than capable of stepping in and performing at this level. Games come thick and fast, so let’s roll on the game against Peterborough.”
