Leeds United are looking to get straight back into winning ways in tomorrow’s early game against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
It is a game that pits the 3rd place Whites, and their near 8,000 travelling fans against a 10th place Rovers who are just a point shy of the play-off places themselves.
A win for Leeds will put them top of the table, albeit it temporarily, whilst three points for the home side will lift them firmly into the play-off picture and within sniffing distance of the top-three.
Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team squad has been trimmed of excess fat, the basic squad being lean and fighting fit. They set of at a dazzle, sweeping relegated Stoke City (3-1) and fancied Derby County (4-1) before them in their opening two games.
Injuries have eaten into the trimmed squad that Bielsa has assembled, with the games around the international break seeing a quintet of Leeds players out of the side and in the treatment room.
In fairness, the latest international break has been more about healing and convalescence than it has been about injuries. As such, it has led to three injured Whites ditching treatment and grabbing a training bib as they look to get back into the swing of things.
Leeds United likely starting XI vs Blackburn Rovers
Goalkeeper: Bailey Peacock-Farrell (GK)
Defence: Gaetano Berardi (RB), Pontus Jansson (CB), Liam Cooper (CB), Stuart Dallas (LB)
Midfield: Kalvin Phillips (DM), Mateusz Klich (CM), Gjanni Alioski (RW), Pablo Hernandez (LW), Samu Saiz (AMC)
Striker: Kemar Roofe (STR)
The returning trio of Gaetano Berardi, Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe is a most welcome bonus for Leeds United fans. This positivity balances out the negativity of regulars Luke Ayling (suspension) and Jack Harrison (injury) missing out, as do the injured Patrick Bamford and Barry Douglas.
