Sheffield United considering a move for Birmingham City playmaker

Football Insider are reporting that Championship leaders Sheffield United are lining up a move for Birmingham City playmaker Jota.

Birmingham city winger Jota joined The Blues last Summer from Brentford for nearly £6m after an impressive 2016/17 campaign, and could be set for another switch, with Chris Wilder looking to bring some more creative spark into his side.

In his first season at St. Andrews, it would be fair to say the Spaniard didn’t live up to the standard he showed in his previous season at Griffin Park with Brentford, but has started to show signs of quality that got him his big money move to Birmingham.

The 27-year-old has played 12 Championship games for The Blues this season, picking up one goal and four assists for Garry Monk’s side. They currently sit in 17th place in the Championship table, and are on an impressive run of eight games unbeaten after a shaky start to the 2018/19 campaign.

Two of Sheffield United’s wingers – Ben Woodburn and Marvin Johnson – are both only on loan at the club, and Chris Wilder will need to bring in a new creative spark on a permanent basis. Wilder is looking to add some fresh attacking quality to help his side fight for Championship promotion, as they look to maintain their place at the top of the table.

At such an early stage of the season, Garry Monk will be hoping to hold onto his star men to try and climb up the Championship table, sitting only three points away from the Play-Off positions, despite sitting just five points above the relegation spots.
