Leeds set for huge boost as key player looks likely for Blackburn trip

The return of Kemar Roofe is music to the ears of Leeds United fans and why shouldn’t it be? A man who was in some serious form before picking up an injury in training and a player who has started the season in the best spell of his Leeds United career.

Marcelo Bielsa had to stick with Roofe throughout pre-season and the striker didn’t disappoint. Maybe not the classic number nine but a player who can cause all sorts of issues for sides. Two wonderful strikes at Derby County were followed by crucial goals at home in the win over Rotherham United and then at Swansea at Leeds twice came from behind to secure a crucial point. His contribution to creating and work-rate as well as build up haven’t gone unnoticed either.

Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts (11) during the EFL Sky Bet Championship match between Hull City and Leeds United at the KCOM Stadium, Kingston upon Hull, England on 2 October 2018.

In his absence it has been left to youngster Tyler Roberts. The injury to Patrick Bamford couldn’t have come at a worse time but that’s typical of Leeds United in all honesty. Roberts was flung into a position he hasn’t played under Marcelo Bielsa although it’s where he sees himself as playing there. He has done a very good job despite a couple of rusty games which is to be expected. During this time he has also been called into the Wales squad under Ryan Giggs and made his debut.

Roofe will be joined by Berardi for availability for the trip to Blackburn which will see around 8k Leeds fans make the trip across the Pennines. The return of Roofe is such a huge boost to Leeds United because the pressure will be lifted from the shoulders of Tyler Roberts. Roberts will probably start the game and he deserves to but having Roofe on the bench is a massive plus for the side.
