When it comes to Chelsea FC and their youth players, they don’t exactly hold a good reputation for nurturing their talent. The club currently has 40 players out on loan, with over 30 of those having never featured for the senior team. This makes the news of Max Aarons new deal at Norwich City all the more refreshing for both parties involved.

The 2018/19 campaign has proved to be a breakout year for the 18-year-old starlet. The full-back only signed his first professional contract back in June, having joined Daniel Farke’s men back in 2016 from Luton Town.

It was reported that Aarons had emerged as a target for the English giants, but the news of a new deal may have a quashed any immediate interest.

The Canaries have wasted no time in tying the youngster down and having made 10 appearances already this season, the future looks bright for the Hammersmith-born teen. Aarons is just one of few youngsters to break through this season, the likes of Todd Cantwell and Louis Thompson have also found success in the first team.

Aarons has firmly cemented the right-back position as his own, with the likes of Ivo Pinto and Felix Passlack amongst the ranks, his feat is made all the more impressive.

Norwich should seek praise in their approach to their academy graduates, with Jamal Lewis the current first-choice left-back at the club, it has given Norwich a much-needed youthful boost going forward.

Farke’s men have enjoyed a more fruitful start to this season, sitting in ninth place the Suffolk side have produced a string of encouraging performances and were unbeaten in eight until the clubs 1-0 home defeat to Stoke at the weekend.
