Sheffield United have gone top of the Championship after beating Hull City 1-0 at Bramall Lane yesterday.
The Blades had to be patient against the Tigers and dug in deep to gain a valuable three points.
It was an even game despite what the Championship table shows. Chris Wilder’s side had a few early chances but never really tested Hull goalkeeper David Marshall in the first-half.
A magnificent save from Dean Henderson from a Markus Henriksen header was a crucial moment in the game. Hull could have easily gone in front but Sheffield United were able to break forward and earn a penalty after Tommy Elphick pulled Jack O’Connell down in the box.
David McGoldrick stood up for the penalty and sent Marshall the wrong way to earn all three points for the Blades. Hull never really looked like getting an equaliser in the end.
Next up for Sheffield United is a trip to Pride Park to face Derby County in two weeks time. Their fans can enjoy being top of the Championship until then.
It has been a similar start to last season’s for Wilder’s side and they will be hoping they can maintain their great form for as long as possible.
Here is how their fans reacted on Twitter to beating Hull City yesterday 1-0-
Top of table going into Oct international break is a wonderful turn round from our opening 2 games. Hard graft at times against a side that at least dug in for Adkins. Taking these games what it's about #SUFCvHCFC #SUFC #HCFC

Long way to go this season but its nice to see us giving it ago, we don’t sit back and play for a point, we give it ago every match, we may win or lose but we try and win every game. Wouldn’t have it any other way. #utb #sufc #twitterblades
