Bradley Dack scored his eighth goal of the Championship season to help Blackburn Rovers to a 1-0 away win against Bolton Wanderers.
Blackburn Rovers have risen to 9th place with a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers, after Bradley Dack scored in the first half of a narrow clash between the two sides.
Rovers maintained the majority of the possession in the early stages, but Bolton went closest to breaking the deadlock, as striker Josh Magennis’ free kick deflected overt the bar.
However, it was Rovers that broke the deadlock with their first chance, as Joe Rothwell’s shot deflected into the path of playmaker Bradley Dack, who slammed home his eighth Championship goal this season.
Bolton pressed for a response, but Blackburn ‘keeper David Raya was on hand to make two saves in quick succession. He first turned away Will Buckley’s effort, before turning over Magennis’ header from the corner. Rovers stayed solid as Charlie Mulgrew cleared off the line from another Magennis header – much to the relief of Danny Graham, whose clearance fell straight to the Northern Irishman.
Bolton had most of the ball throughout the second half as Tony Mowbray switched to three centre-backs, moving Elliott Bennett and Harrison Reed into the wing-back positions.
Wanderers tested the resolve of Rovers late on in the game, as David Wheater headed wide and Derrick Williams pulled down sub Christian Doidge – but avoided conceding a penalty thanks to the offside flag.
Tony Mowbray’s side saw the game out and brought all three points back to Ewood Park, helping Rovers climb up to 9th place and level with 6th place Brentford, bouncing back from their midweek defeat at home against Sheffield United.
