Aston Villa, Norwich City and Swansea City keeping tabs on Aberdeen defender

Aston Villa, Norwich City and Swansea City are all keeping tabs on Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Representatives from the Championship trio were all up in Scotland last week to watch the highly-rated defender in action. Premier League side Wolves are also believed to be keeping an eye on him.

McKenna, who is 21 years-old, has burst onto the scene for Aberdeen over the past year or so and is a man in demand.

He joined their academy in 2013 and initially gained first-team experience during loan spells at Ayr United and Alloa Athletic. McKenna made his debut for Aberdeen in February 2016 but broke into the squad last season.

His solid performances at the back in the last campaign has earned him four caps for the Scotland national team over recent months. He had previously represented his country at Under-19 and Under-21 level.

Aberdeen turned down a bid from Championship side Hull City in January and then rejected moves from Celtic and Aston Villa for him in August. He is seen as one of the most promising defenders in the Scottish Premier League at the moment and will not leave Aberdeen on the cheap.

They will face a battle to keep hold of him now with Villa still keen, as well as others like Norwich, Swansea and Wolves. The January transfer window could be a very interesting one for Scott McKenna and Aberdeen.
