Plymouth Argyle facing injury crisis ahead of Doncaster Rovers fixture

Plymouth Argyle are expected to be without 10 first team players when they face Doncaster Rovers at Home Park in Sky Bet League One this afternoon.

The Pilgrims are winless after nine matches and come up against a Rovers side in fantastic form after recording three straight league wins.

Ahead of the match, the Plymouth Herald have revealed that Argyle boss Derek Adams will be without at least 10 first team players and the Scot will have to call upon some members of the club’s academy to fill the matchday squad.

The injury list at Home Park includes Joe Riley, Gary Sawyer, Jamie Ness, Antoni Sarcevic, Ryan Taylor, Niall Canavan, Conor Grant, Lionel Ainsworth, Tafari Moore and Scott Wootton. All of those players have been confirmed as absentees for the Doncaster Rovers fixture with some expected to remain on the sidelines for a considerable period of time.

Doncaster Rovers were one of the few sides which Plymouth Argyle failed to beat last season. The South Yorkshire club won 3-0 at Home Park in September before the two sides drew 1-1 at The Keepmoat Stadium in January.

Grant McCann’s side are the favourites to emerge with the three points from this afternoon’s clash and Plymouth Argyle’s hopes are not helped by yet another injury crisis at Home Park.
