Middlesbrough youngster attracting European interest

Middlesbrough youngster Bilal Brahimi only made his debut for the club in the second round of the Carabao Cup last month, but he has made quite the impression on the Boro faithful.

Now, the 18-year old is attracting attention from the Premier League and beyond, with the likes of Newcastle United, German side Red Bull Leipzig and French Ligue 1 stalwarts Rennes, according to France Football.

The attacker was on the radar of Newcastle in the summer, and was also interesting Everton, however nothing came to fruition. Brahimi is highly regarded at Middlesbrough, and has impressed in the youth ranks, most notably in the under-23s side, and Pulis rightfully rewarded his performances with a first team debut in the Carabao Cup last month.

His current contract means he is tied to Boro until June 2019, but with less than a year left on his deal, this has alerted sides from all around Europe. He is yet to sign a professional contract with the club, but it is believed that the Teessiders are hoping to offer one to the youngster to ward off any interest from potential suitors.

Previous reports suggest that both Liverpool and Valencia were interested in the player, but it is unclear whether both the Champions League finalists and the Spanish giants remain keen on the winger.

With Boro progressing to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup this week, Tony Pulis may be limiting the chances of playing time for fringe players including Brahimi, and the young Frenchman could be looking to secure a move with a clearer route to first-team football.
