“Bursting with pride!”- Derby County fans react to beating Manchester United last night

Derby County are through to fourth round of the Carabao Cup after beating Manchester United on penalties at Old Trafford last night.

The Rams stunned the Premier League giants by beating them 8-7 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the 90 minutes.

Manchester United took an early lead through Juan Mata after just three minutes after great build-up play between Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku. Derby fans must have thought they were in for a long evening at this point but their side matched United.

Derby levelled it up just after half-time through an unbelievable free-kick from Harry Wilson. The Wales international, who is on loan from Liverpool, managed to beat Sergio Romero from 30-yards out.

The Manchester United goalkeeper was then sent off after handling outside the box and Derby made their extra man count when Jack Marriott headed home five minutes before the end. However, United levelled it up at the death through Marouane Fellaini, which sent the game to penalties.

Practice made perfect for the Rams though and they scored every penalty in front of the Stretford End. A Scott Carson save from Phil Jones secured a memorable night for Frank Lampard’s side.
