International football will come to The City Ground next month when Nottingham Forest Ladies take on the Jamaican international women’s side in a special friendly fixture.

Forest currently play their football in the third tier of the women’s footballing pyramid, the FA Women’s National League North, and are in 10th position in the table after six matches.

Nottingham Forest have now announced that their ladies side will face Jamaica at The City Ground on Sunday 28 October in an international friendly fixture which will see The Reggae Girlz play in Europe for the first time in their history.

The match will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the ‘Empire Windrush’ which saw a number of Jamaican and Caribbean immigrants arrive in Great Britain.

Jamaica may yet return to Europe next summer with Merron Gordon’s side still in with a chance of qualifying for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

Nottingham Forest’s meeting with The Reggae Girlz will be celebrated with a range of Jamaican-themed events taking place in and around The City Ground. Jamaican cuisine is expected to be served on the day of the match while some local Reggae artists are set to be invited along to the event.

Details of how to buy tickets and a schedule of events leading up to kick-off are expected to be announced in the next couple of weeks.
